1. Am I eligible to pursue CPA course?
1. 1st E requirement - (Education Eligibility) - So first must have minimum required education crietarion to pursue CPA and as requirements vary by state/jurisdiction so should opt that state where you can currenty meeting this requirement or can easily met this requirement.
2. General Requirement is - Obtain a "standard" bachelor degree (in the US, this means 4 years or more), together with 150 credit hour of general higher education. Of which minimum 30 credit hours
3. Check State wise requirement at:

utm_medium=slide&utm_campaign=becomeacpa (https://thiswaytocpa.com/exam-licensure/state- requirements/?utm_source=becomeacpa&utm_medium=slide&utm_campaign=becomeacpa)
4. Few jurisdictions DO NOT currently participate in the international administration of the Exam. Thus an Indian Candidate can't take exam in UAE in that case (Details below) Check before registration.
5. Challenge - The tertiary degree system in India is different from that of the US - the bachelor program in India is 3 years, versus 4 years in the US. Because of this, Indian CPA candidates cannot fulfill the first requirement of obtaining a 4-year bachelor degree.
6. One year of university typically equals to 30 credit hours. For a 3-year B.COM degree, you get 90 credit hours. But as state board genreally look for 150 hours (Check statewise requirecment on link given above) thus it means state boards are looking for 5 years, and you can make up for the remaining 60 credit hours with Post graduate courses or US based non-degree courses. (Bridge Course)
Thus, to pursue this course, you minimum qualification should be -
  • - Master of Commerce
  • - MBAs or other non-accounting master's: get an evaluation report and see if you lack accounting credit hours
  • - Member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India.
  • - Member of the Institute of Cost and Works Accountants in India.
  • - Member of the Company Secretaries in India.
  • - Other 4 Year Commerce / Accounting Course
If you only have a BCOM + CA/CMA/CS only, then since 2012, most state boards changed their interpretation of the CA qualification.
In the past, some of them considered CAto be equivalent to a 4-year bachelor degree. This is no longer the case. As Now, CA is considered a "experience qualification" rather than an "academic qualification" and most state boards no longer grant credits towards the educational requirements.
2. Is there any time limit to complete for passing CPA exams?
You must pass all four sections of the Exam within 18 months. The calculation of when the 18-month timeframe begins varies by jurisdiction. Check with your specific Board of Accountancy (https://nasba.org/stateboards/) for details
